GET INVOLVED

Volunteering with us is an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our community, to be social with others who care, and to have fun being a part of the process.  Whether you can spare a few hours or a few days, your time and dedication would have a meaningful impact.

Open Doors has been 100% volunteer run since we opened in 1990!  As we continue to grow, the number of helping hands needed to provide services and keep things running smoothly also increases.  Consider volunteering today!

SCHEDULED VOLUNTEERS

It takes a lot of scheduled volunteers to keep things running - about 245 hours each week!  From front room operations to picking orders and warehouse teams to clothing sorters, we need all kinds of people to make the magic happen.

Work a scheduled day once or twice a month - directly with clients or behind the scenes.  Most shifts are needed during regular pantry hours, but a few involve other time slots.  Our Volunteer Coordinator can help find the right spot for you and your availability.  Training is provided.

GROUP OPPORTUNITIES

School groups, business groups, church groups - whatever kind of group - contact us to see what opportunities we have coming up where we could use a group of helping hands.  It could be sorting donations, pulling weeds, boxing holiday meals, etc.

The Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger food drive alone requires a lot of additional help - months of prep folding bags to be mailed to area residents and weeks after to sort the more than 30,000 pounds of food donations.

HOST A FOOD DRIVE

Help stock our shelves by hosting a food drive!  Coordinate one at work with a friendly competition between departments.  Maybe your school organization is looking for a community project.  We've even had people do a food drive for their birthday!

August-October are our slowest months for donations which makes them the perfect time for a food drive.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions on hosting a food drive, including specific items we are in need of to help focus donations.
